BARGAIN IN VIETNAM

Bargaining in Vietnam

Negotiating or haggling over prices in Vietnam is a stage that every traveler faces. Here are some tips to help you get good business.

We recommend that you always pay in local currency. You can possibly pay large sums in Euros or Dollars.

Bargaining:

In Vietnam almost everything is negotiable and even compulsory. You can haggle for everything except at the restaurant and when the prices are posted. If the prices displayed seem too high to you, compare with local buyers.

Here are some universal rules to follow in order to negotiate correctly:

Sellers expect to negotiate like this if you don't negotiate you will be paying way too much for your products because the sellers willfully advertise high prices to start negotiating. And more with foreigners.

A few things to keep in mind:

Always stick to the price set. Advertise a lower price than the price you plan to put in order to be able to keep some leeway and be able to outbid.
If he announces a ridiculously too high price, go into his game and announce with a smile a ridiculously low price!
Do not get help from a native you do not know, some may be commissioned
If you are bargaining for something unique, don't show too much interest as the seller will feel it and be firmer.
The key to good bargaining is knowing the regular price of what interests you. To learn the prices, nothing beats experience! Ask other people how much they paid for similar items and try to get a better deal!
