TIPS

Tipping exists in many different forms in Vietnamese culture and is often referred to as "thanks". This culture is practiced from time to time in Vietnam as the economic growth of the country. The tip is of course left to your sole judgment, as a sign of appreciation. Specifically, tips are generalized with guides and drivers who accompany travelers, as well as bellboys in hotels, drivers of rickshaws in order to thank them for the quality of their service.

For guides and drivers, if you are traveling with a private guide and driver, the recommended level is to tip the guide and the driver at the end of the service, especially if their language level, cultural knowledge and attitude are exceptional. . As an indication, it is quite correct to give 5 € / per person / per day for the guide, and half for the driver. But in the end, you decide!
For the boat crew in Halong Bay or the Mekong Delta, it is customary to tip as it is for guides and drivers.

In hotels, as a general rule, a tip of € 1 is sufficient for the maid or for hotel baggage handlers. In cafes or restaurants, tipping is not really used. So a small tip budget of around 80 euros per person is usefully provided for during a 2 week trip.
