Day 1: Saigon - My Tho

In the morning, transfer from Saigon to My Tho port for boarding the R / V Mekong Prestige. Lunch on board. Installation in the cabins. At the start of the afternoon, the R / V Mékong Prestige begins its navigation. Traditional music show, cocktail and welcome dinner on board.


Day 2: Cai Be - Sadec


After breakfast, departure by local boats through the floating market to the French Gothic cathedral. Disembarkation and walk to discover the artisanal production of rice leaves and coconut candies. Back on board. Crossing the province of Vinh Long, the "Majestic Dragon" according to the translation, located in the center of the delta regions, between two arms of the Mekong. Lunch on board.

In the afternoon, arrive at Sa Dec, where French writer Marguerite Duras spent part of her childhood. City tour to soak up the atmosphere of this authentic Delta city where a few colonial houses still exist. Visit of the "Chinese house", described in Marguerite Duras's novel, L’Amant, and of a Caodaist temple. Discovery of the colorful local market. Dinner on board. Night sailing through the Mekong Delta towards Tan Chau.


Day 3: Tan Chau


In the morning, arrive in Tan Chau, a small town on the Mekong. Boarding on local boats to visit a fish farm. Disembark and visit a mat-making workshop, then take a rickshaw ride through the village. Stop to visit a synthetic silk factory. Back on board for lunch. Navigation to the Cambodian border. Formalities and border crossing. Dinner on board. In the evening, continue navigation to Phnom Penh.


Day 4: Phnom Penh


Arrival in the morning in Phnom Penh. The capital of Cambodia has retained its French charm, with its old colonial architecture and bustling streets. Visit of the Royal Palace, which constitutes a vast architectural ensemble, and of the Silver Pagoda. Visit of the National Museum which contains a rich collection of Khmer art. Lunch on board.

In the afternoon, visit to the "S21" high school, a former detention center, between 1975 and 1979, essential to understand the tragedy experienced by the Cambodian people under the Khmer Rouge regime. Visit of Wat Phnom, a 27-meter-high hill that gives the city its name and consists of a stupa, a pagoda and a pavilion. Dinner and traditional Khmer dance show on board.


Day 5: Koh Chong - Phnom Penh


Early in the morning, the R / V Mekong Prestige sails to Koh Chong. Walk in this small village of weavers. Discovery of the workshops, visit of the pagoda and meeting at primary school with a teacher and students. Back on board for lunch ; the boat resumes its navigation towards Phnom Penh. Free afternoon in Phnom Penh allowing an individual discovery of the city and doing some shopping at the "Russian market". Dinner on board.


Day 6: Oudong - Kampong Tralach


In the morning, the R / V Mekong Prestige continues its navigation. Lunch on board. In the early afternoon, arrived in Oudong, located about forty kilometers from Phnom Penh. Between 1618 and 1866, Oudong was the capital of Cambodia, built on hills, which are home to many stupas of the last Khmer kings. Visit of the Vipassana Dhura pagoda, a meditation center for many Buddhist monks. Then, departure by bus to Kampong Tralach to visit the Vihara of Wat Kampong Leu pagoda. It dates from the last century and preserves magnificent murals. Isolated in the middle of the rice fields, it is a modest pagoda with exceptional charm. Return on board in oxcarts and resume navigation to Kampong Chhnang. Dinner on board.


Day 7: Kampong Chnang


Morning navigation on the Tonle Sap River, which connects the Mekong to Tonle Lake. Arrival in Kampong Chhnang. Located about 90 kilometers from Phnom Penh, it is a particularly bustling port city. The banks of the river bear witness to Cambodian rural life and a remarkable ornithological diversity. Boarding on small local boats to visit the floating village which has retained a totally authentic aspect. All the buildings in the village are floating: the school, the shops, the stalls of many craftsmen or traders, the police station. On land, walk in the typical local market along the river. Lunch and dinner on board.



Day 8: Tonlé Sap Lake - Siem Reap



Breakfast on board.

Early in the morning, the R / V Mekong Prestige crosses Tonle Lake. Arrival at Siem Reap pier (Phnom Krom).

Landing. Free meals.

Note: during the low water period, the transfer to Siem Reap can be done by speed boat or coach.
